Matt has been in the gift card space since 2001, managing programs from the merchant brands' perspective. Starting with the VHS-renting days of Hollywood Video, Matt ran operations, marketing, and B2B client services for the Hollywood Video, Game Crazy, and eventually Movie Gallery gift card programs.
Matt then moved to Nike Retail, founding and growing the program that would introduce the Nike mini-shoebox gift card box to the world, and launch programs with Cole Haan, Converse, and Nike international in China, Japan, and Europe.
While at Nike, Matt completed his MBA and co-founded and served on the executive board of a trade association called the Retail Gift Card Association, which featured an exclusively merchant membership.
Matt left Nike to found Powerhouse Brands, a gift card program management firm for premium and emerging merchants, that helps some of the largest brands in the world develop and maximize their gift card portfolios.
At the same time that Powerhouse launched, Matt launched the
Gift Card Network
, now the largest gift card focused media and collaboration network in the world, serving as its director for three years, until the baton was passed to a new director in 2014, allowing Matt to focus on growing Powerhouse Brands.
In the gift card space since 2008, Heather has run gift card programs for a number of merchants, including working on staff with Barnes and Noble, Spa Week, and other online brands. Heather has extensive experience in B2B partnership sales, and heads up our client's distribution relationships.
Barb has starred in the gift card industry since 2003, primarily focused on customer service, fraud prevention and fulfillment. Barb's experience includes positions within Hollywood Video and Nike, as well as managing ordering, invoicing, and fulfillment processes.
Steve has been with Powerhouse Brands Consulting for going on 5 years, and really enjoys the interesting challenges the Gift Card Industry faces. He loves engaging with fellow Gift Card Geeks at industry events, so if you see him around, say hello!
One of Powerhouse's resident designers, Dean finds creative inspiration from looking at cool things people have made. His free time is spent learning useless trivia on the internet or trying to teach his dog to actually bring the ball back.
Dez is the newest member of the team. She started at Powerhouse as an intern and has since graduated with her MS and MBA. She oversees the day-to-day operations, marketing, and communications.
